This page supplements the Privacy Policy and explains cookies and similar browser storage used to support Legacii. Cookies are small pieces of browser data; similar tools include local storage and session storage.
What these technologies support
| Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account access | Maintaining an authenticated session and remembering verification or device-state information. |
| Preferences | Remembering settings needed for the experience you choose, including your cookie choice. |
| Security and reliability | Preventing misuse, protecting requests, and supporting technical operation. |
| Payments | Supporting checkout, payment authentication, fraud prevention, and return from a payment flow. |
| Referrals and campaigns | Remembering which ambassador link or campaign brought you to Legacii, so the right discount and credit apply at checkout. |
| Analytics and advertising (optional) | Measuring which pages, links, and ads bring families to Legacii. See the next section. |
Some technology is supplied by our hosting or payment providers. Stripe may process device and technical information for payment security and fraud prevention under its own practices, including in connection with the services it provides elsewhere. Visiting an external WhatsApp or other provider link also brings you to that provider's service and notice.
We do not put Story Content into advertising or website-analytics tools. We do not use session replay, and nothing on this page authorizes a new use of archive information. The optional tools we use are the ones listed below; where the law requires consent, we ask before they store anything.
Analytics and advertising (optional, with your choice)
We use three tools to understand how visitors find and use the website. They see website activity, such as pages viewed, buttons clicked, the link or ad that brought you, and checkout steps. They do not receive your conversations with Maya, your family's stories, or anything in an archive.
| Tool and provider | What it stores in your browser | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) | Cookies _ga and _ga_<id> |
Counting visits, pages, and checkout steps, and which campaign or link a visit came from. | About 2 years |
| Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, Inc.) | Cookie _fbp, and _fbc when you arrive from a Meta ad |
Measuring whether visits and purchases came from our ads on Facebook or Instagram. | About 90 days |
| Umami (Umami Software, Inc.) | Nothing. Umami sets no cookies and does not identify you. | Aggregate counts of visits, pages, and button clicks. | Not applicable |
When a purchase is completed, our server also reports it to Google Analytics (the plan, the amount, and an order reference) so it is counted even if you close the page. Where you have allowed advertising, it reports the purchase to Meta as well, with your email address and phone number in hashed form, so Meta can match it to an ad. Without that choice, Meta receives nothing about the purchase from us.
How your choice works
Where we ask first. In the European Economic Area (the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway), the United Kingdom (including the Crown Dependencies and Gibraltar), Switzerland, and Canada, a banner asks before Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel store anything. Until you choose Accept, the Meta Pixel does not load and no Google Analytics or Meta cookie is set. Google Analytics may still receive a page signal without cookies or identifiers, which Google uses only for aggregate counts. Reject is as easy as Accept, and the website works the same either way.
Everywhere else. Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel are on by default. You can turn them off at any time.
Changing your mind. Use Cookie choices in the website footer to reopen the banner and choose again. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key legacii.consent, so we do not ask on every visit. Clearing your browser storage clears the choice, and the banner asks again where it applies.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of advertising wherever you are: the Meta Pixel does not load, we do not report purchases to Meta, and Google's advertising signals stay off. Analytics is not affected by this signal; use Cookie choices to turn it off.
Storage Legacii itself sets
| Name | Type | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
legacii.consent |
Local storage | Your Accept or Reject choice. | Until you change it or clear your browser storage |
legacii_ref |
Cookie | The ambassador link you arrived through, so their discount and credit apply at checkout. | 60 days |
legacii.referral-code |
Local storage | The same referral code, so the gift page can show its discount. | 30 days |
legacii.utm, legacii.fbc |
Session storage | The campaign, or the Meta ad click, that brought you, carried into checkout. The Meta ad click is sent only where you have allowed advertising. | Until you close the tab |
| Gift form draft and page state | Session storage | What you typed into the gift form, kept across the payment step and an accidental refresh, and which button brought you to it. | Until you close the tab |
Your controls
You can use your browser to view, block, or delete cookies and local storage. Blocking sign-in or security storage may prevent account or checkout functions from working. Deleting browser storage does not delete your Legacii archive or cancel a subscription.
Where the Service presents a cookie choice for optional technology, you can use that choice without agreeing to optional processing simply to read our legal pages. A legacy browser “Do Not Track” signal does not disable essential account, security, or payment processing. We honor legally required opt-out preference signals for activities covered by those laws, including Global Privacy Control as described above.
